Technical University of Denmark (DTU) is the main training and research institution for engineering in Denmark. It was founded in 1829 by order of the King under the direction of Hans Christian ørsted, whose discovery of electromagnetism has proved a key factor in the creation of modern society.
As of January 1, 2007, DTU merged with the Danish Institute for Food and Veterinary Research, Risø National Laboratory, the Danish Institute for Fisheries Research, the Danish National Space Centre, and the Danish Transport Research Institute
This merger meshes perfectly with DTU's strategy and provides unique opportunities to develop DTU within such fields
as life sciences and health, sustainable energy and transport, space sciences, and marine technologies.
"The relatively small number of students and the large number of labs/ resources at DTU guarantee an ‘ideal’environment for students."
– Carlo Maria Radice, Italy
